Focus Singles
Focus is a Christ-centered ministry of Worthington Christian Church, which exists to be used by God to educate, nurture, and equip single adults in order to make a difference in our community. Our singles' ministry makes every attempt to discover avenues in which members who are unmarried can find productive ministry outlets, to make the church their home. Some of those outlets may be churchwide and others are gatherings of folks of like marital status for encouragement and support.
It's okay to be single — don't let anyone tell you any different!
Did you know that there are more "single" people in the general population than married people? Did you know that the average woman doesn't consider herself to be "single" until around the age of 30? For men is it closer to 40. A lot of people fall into the "unmarried" category, which means that a lot of people share the same pain.
Does this sound familiar to you or someone you know?
We can point to the census all day long to prove that you are not alone in your singleness, but the real question that needs to be asked is this: Is it possible that it isn't that you are alone in your singleness, but that your focus is turned inward and you are simply noticing that which you wish you had?
It's okay to feel that way — everyone does at some point in their life. Singles are often made to feel like they are only half a person, but we must realize that God has made us a whole person, not lacking anything. Singles do not need to be married with 2.5 kids and a dog to be "completed." In Christ we have all that we need for life and ministry (2 Corinthians 9). The faster we as a church body recognize this fact that we are all whole in Christ, the quicker we will become the fellowship that is another step closer to the image of Jesus.
We understand that every unmarried person has different needs, worries and hopes. But just as every single person has different problems, every single person offers a wealth of gifts, experiences, perspectives and challenges. It is one of the goals of the Focus Singles Ministry to unite our unmarried members and use those strengths to help minister to the needs of others.
