Please welcome Carrie Wiley, Children’s Minister!

Good morning! I’m standing here in our Children’s Ministry area because we have some exciting news to share with you. Back in June, we announced that Tom Sherrod will be transitioning this fall into a new role as Care Minister.

We are encouraged that the care ministries within our church family will have solid leadership as we Follow Jesus Together. Since Tom’s acceptance of his new role back in February, we have been prayerfully seeking the right person to oversee the essential role as Children’s Minister at WCC.

Today after months of prayer and many conversations, our leadership has invited Carrie Wiley to be our next Children’s Minister and Carrie has accepted!

Carrie and her family are not strangers to WCC. She, her husband Russ and their kids Noah, Jared and Hannah have been members of WCC for several years and last year Carrie joined our staff as administrative assistant to Will Ellis, our Student Minister.

Carrie is a graduate of Great Lakes Christian College with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education. She has experience as a day care director and involvement in children’s ministry.

Carrie is passionate about family. She has a heart for children and a desire to see families grow in relationship with Jesus. We are thankful that God is calling her to lead in this vital role.

Carrie will officially take the lead as Children’s Minister and Tom Sherrod will transition to Care Minister on September 1.

We’re living in unusual times as our community and world faces many challenges. So today, we ask that you would be in prayer for Carrie, Russ and her family as they transition… Tom and Carolyn as they transition… and really, our entire team as we continually seek ways to engage families to discover God’s great love through Jesus.

We are so thankful for you… that God is actively working through the lives of his people at Worthington Christian Church as we Follow Jesus Together.

Get to know Carrie!

Some of you may already know me and my family and some of you may never have heard of the Wileys before last Sunday, but I’m glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you!

My husband, Russ, and I just celebrated 20 years of marriage in May. We met at Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing, MI. We have lived in the Columbus area for 17 years and Russ is currently the manager at Holmes Lumber in Sunbury. I’ve previously been employed as a Preschool Teacher, a Christian Daycare director, an interim Children’s Minister at Beechwold Christian Church and a Client Assistant at Rivers/Lidke Financial Group. When our three children (Noah – 18, Jared – 16, and Hannah – 13) were younger, I also cared for children out of our home. Most recently, I have been assisting Will Ellis, our Student Minister. Russ and I also have served the last four years as Student Leaders with WCC.

We are big Buckeye fans and enjoy watching and participating in all kinds of sports, including football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and volleyball. Our son, Noah, is a Senior at Kilbourne and Jared is a Junior at Kilbourne. Hannah is an 8th grader at McCord. We love to travel, especially to National Parks. We also enjoy camping and playing games with family and friends.

We have enjoyed working and serving at Worthington Christian Church these past four years and we’re excited and honored to begin this new role of leading children and families to “Follow Jesus Together!”
