On Tuesday, July 7, Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health issued an order for seven counties designated at Red Alert Level 3 requiring face coverings in public.
The specifics of that order includes:
- In any indoor location that is not a residence;
- When outdoors and unable to consistently maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of their household; or
- While waiting for, riding, driving, or operating public transportation, a taxi, a private car service, or a ride-sharing vehicle.
This includes houses of worship, meaning if you plan to attend in-person services this Sunday, you must wear a mask.
WCC Regathering Plan
In order to ensure we maintain six feet of space between everyone (or each family group) we are limiting our service capacity to 300 people per hour, and we’re requiring registration for everyone who plans to attend our services. Every other pew will be used and we will post signs with the capacity limit per pew.
In addition, we will be asking our members and friends to continue to maintain proper social distancing while at church and to refrain from hugs and shaking hands. Also, our greeters, cleaning crew and tech team will all be wearing masks and we encourage you to do the same.
Yes, the worship time for third service is a little different. The reason for that is to give our team of volunteers enough time to disinfect the pews and high traffic areas between each service.
Because we have capped the capacity of the Worship Center to 300 people per service, we are required to ask our members and friends to register for the worship service they would like to attend. By limiting the number of people per service, we will be able to seat families, couples and individuals six feet apart.
Registration will begin the Monday before each Sunday service and end at midnight on Saturday.
This means that registration for the June 28 worship services will begin on Monday, June 22 and registration for the July 5 worship services will begin on Monday, June 29, etc. Registration will be done through Realm and we will post links right here on our website, in the eView and on our various social media outlets when appropriate.
Communion elements will be individually wrapped and they will be provided as you enter the Worship Center. In addition, we will not be handing out bulletins or passing the offering plate. Instead we encourage you to give online, by mail or by dropping your contribution into one of the Generous boxes located in the back of the Worship Center.
Please dispose of empty communion cups when exiting the service.
On-campus Adult, WCCYouth and Children Life Group Bible studies will not be meeting. Life Groups are encouraged to continue to meet online or off campus until further notice.
The nursery and toddler classes will not be available at this time. All Children’s Ministry activities & classes will resume at a later date.
At this time, we don’t believe that the Cry Room will be available as the room is not big enough to maintain proper social distancing. If that changes, we will announce that here.
If you are not comfortable with meeting in person just yet, no worries! We will continue to stream our services online at live.worthingtoncc.org at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:11 AM. The online campus is a permanent part of Worthington Christian Church so if you’re ever out-of-town, home sick or just can’t make it in, you can still join us online. In addition, if you miss a sermon, or just want to revisit an old favorite, stop by our sermon archive.
We are available to host most weddings and/or funerals (with prior approval) as long as the Ohio Department of Health guidance on maintaining proper social distancing, etc. are followed.
Regular office hours will resume on Monday, June 15. However, to ensure the safety of our staff, we are requiring anyone who wants to speak with a minister or otherwise visit the office to make an appointment first and to please wear a face mask. Walk-in appointments or visits will not be allowed at this time.
