Baptism

What is baptism?

Baptism is the dramatic confession that Jesus died, was buried, and was resurrected three days later. It is an announcement of faith, a proclamation of profound change, and an act of surrender to the crucified and resurrected Jesus Christ by an individual who fully understands and accepts all that the act signifies. If you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you are ready to confess that He is Lord (Romans 10:9-10), and if you repent, and let God lead you (II Peter 3:9), then you are ready to be baptized.

Here are some more Scriptures to help us understand more about baptism: Matthew 3:13-17; Acts 2:37-38; Acts 8:26-40; Romans 6:1-7.

Living a Changed Life

What happens after you are baptized?  Well, we know this: a decision to follow Jesus changes everything. It’s a one-time change that leads to a lifetime of changes. It’s not just a physical, emotional, or spiritual change -- it’s an everything change.

Those who choose to follow Jesus begin a process of continually being changed into the image of Jesus. Whether at the starting line of your faith or further down the road, your identity is now in Jesus. He has made you new and will continue His work in you from this day forward.

To help with your spiritual journey right after your baptism, we ask you to commit to participating in a four-session study called “Changed.”  This commitment is personal, and you will be able to journey through this study on your own time.  Each session contains an encouraging message and a booklet to accompany the study.

We are so excited for you and this new journey!
