Join us for our next Blood Drive!
Monday, December 2 from Noon to 6:00 PM in the Atrium
Ever wonder why the Red Cross is always facing a critical shortage of blood? Because out of the millions of Americans who are eligible to donate blood, only 3% do.
Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident & burn victims, heart surgery & organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. Every TWO SECONDS, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
Be one of the 3%.
If you are not able to donate with us during our next Blood Drive, we encourage you to visit the Red Cross website to find a date, time & location that works best for you.

Who needs blood transfusions?
When you think of blood transfusions you probably think "trauma" or "major surgery." While both of those scenarios often require a blood transfusion (or several), the fact is that a lot of people need a blood transfusion for a wide variety of reasons.
Cancer and trauma patients may require a blood transfusion. People who suffer from a blood disorder or disease will likely require several transfusions. Burn patients often require blood donations to maintain blood pressure and other vital functions. In fact, newborns may require a blood transfusion, too. That's a lot of people in our community -- neighbors, co-workers and acquaintances -- who may need a blood transfusion and YOU have the power to save their life.

Are you a first time donor?
No worries! It really is a very simple process to donate blood and relatively painless. (It's easier than going to the dentist. Really!) Donations generally take about an hour to complete, and the folks at the drive are there to help you get through the process.
Before you go, we suggest checking out the helpful First Time Donor page on the Red Cross website to help you prepare. (You may also want to check out the videos at the bottom of the page.) And, of course, eat a meal before donating and drink plenty of fluids -- that makes a huge difference!
PRO TIP: If you're feeling a bit nervous or anxious, speak up! Most first time donors tend to be a bit nervous and the volunteers will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
