Generosity is most commonly defined as the willingness to give or share. In its simplest definition, generosity for the Follower of Jesus is the willingness to give or share in our time, talent, and treasure. These three resources of time, talent, and treasure are not independent of one another. Together, our time, perhaps our most valuable resource, our talent, perhaps our second most valuable resource, and our treasure invite us to continually join in what Jesus is doing in and through our church.
The vision of our church is simple, to FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER. We have all had the pleasure of seeing and experiencing the reality of this vision come to life in the past year. Part, just part, of bringing that vision to life is our generosity in tithes and offerings. Our generosity affords us opportunities to reach into our community more.
You are receiving this encouragement and giving statement because you have decided in the past year to help financially support the ministry of Worthington Christian Church. Our church is extremely grateful for your faithfulness in generosity and your commitment to help make our vision to FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER a reality.
While 2021 certainly presented some interesting challenges, we continue to be abundantly blessed as a church family. We have been reminded of the eternal truth of God’s Word found in 2nd Corinthians 9:6, “Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” (New Living Translation)
As we embark upon a new year, we celebrate that 2021 was a year of abundant blessing for our church. Our 2021 giving exceeded our budget needs of $2,736,980. This places WCC in a position to look ahead at exciting vision for new ministry opportunities for the future. We continue to be encouraged by God’s faithfulness and the generosity of His people! With this in mind, our leadership continues to pray and seek God’s wisdom as we continue to FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER and seek vision for continued influence with Jesus in our community. Our approved budget for 2022 is $2,838,494. May we remember that our time, talent, and treasure are what Jesus has given us to sow. Are we sowing generously? Let’s FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER!
